Birks for Bees, Birks for all
Birks Jewelry was established almost a decade and a half ago in 1879 when Henry Birks founded the company in historical Montreal, Canada on the first of March. Since the Canadian company's early beginning, the jewelry company has established themselves in several different countries as a premium retail and wholesale brand that has proven to hold their own.
Along with carrying their own brand of jewelry, the company also carries well known brands such as Rolex, Cartier, Baume and Mercier, Van Cleef & Arpels and many more. With a growing following and admiration for the company brand from their customers, the blue-boxed jewelry brand decided to lend a helping hand to an important cause- the tragic and rapid decline in the Bees species!
With the immense decline in the population of the honey bee, Birks has partnered with several Canadian organizations to ensure that we keep the honey bees alive due to their impact on the Earth. Some of these organizations include the Nature Conservancy of Canada and the University of Guelph. Did you know that bees pollinate one third of the food that is consumed on Earth today? Not only do bees play a pivotal role in the overall well being of our ecosystem and biodiversity, but they also help sustain our main sources of food. Some of the many examples of crops these little insects help pollinate are avocados, soybeans, broccoli, peaches, cherries, citrus fruits and much more!
In order to ensure that we keep these amazing creatures alive, Birks has dedicated an entire collection to them, the Bee Chic collection. When a piece of jewelry is purchased from the Bee Chic collection, a portion of that sale goes directly to preserving this endangered species.
The Bee Chic collection is inspired by the craftsmanship of the honeybee. These pieces are fun to wear and make a great statement piece for your collection of jewelry. Here are some of our favorites:
